Pay as you go costs for the iPhone3GS in the UK By Chris Thomas of free-iPhone3GS Pay as you go customers in the United Kingdom who are looking to get themselves a new iPhone3GS without committing to a monthly contract will have to pay approximately £440.00 for the 16GB version of the iPhone3GS or around £536.00 for the 32GB version. These are the prices set by Apple through their network partner O2 and to me seem pretty outrageous. In addition to these handset costs the customer will have to pay for the cost of calls, text messages and data use on a top up as you use basis. Going off these prices it is clear that Apple are trying to force new users down the road of committing to an 18 month or even a 24 month contract in lieu of allowing them the freedom of the PAYG service. I think it is more likely to force users to look at competing products.
