Features of the PlayStation 3 By Mark Jones The Sony PlayStation 3 games console introduced numerous new features to the games console market when compared to its predecessor, the PS2. The PS3 includes two types of wireless communication technologies. The first is wireless controllers (using Bluetooth technology) which are rechargeable allowing wire-free gaming. The second is a built-in wireless network connection allowing the console to connect direct to the internet via your wireless network router. This function allow the PS3 to access internet based updates (for both the games and the console) and to also access the PlayStation Network store where users can buy any download games as well as play online. Another first for the PS3 is the inclusion of a Blu-ray disk player allowing users to watch and hear high definition movies in conjunction with a suitable TV and sound system. The high definition capability is also used by the games, many of which come on a Blu-ray disk. The PS3 allows gamers to enjoy high definition quality pictures when playing their favourite games. The final major new feature of the PS3 in the inclusion of an integrated hard drive. This allows games to be partially installed on the machine allowing for quicker load times and also eliminating the need for memory cards (as used in the PS2) to save game data on.
